Announcing Our 17th Annual Creatin' Contest ...
The Creatin' Contest contest for 2010 is all about transforming Lisa's Country Cottage, #29903, into something different, diverse and totally unexpected. Fran Casselman, our in-house miniaturist, took a bit of imagination and a pinch of creativity to turn this simple, practical cottage into a stunning get-away retreat.
There are no rules, except that you start with Lisa's Country Cottage.
Don't wait to get started.
When you order #29903 Lisa's Country Cottage, your Creatin' Contest entry form can be found in the order or you may call customer service at 1.800.223.7171 or you may click here to print.

Tips for photographing your 2010 Creatin' Contest entry :
- Do not us the flash option on your camera. Instead, use full daylight or two electric light sources aimed onto your project to eliminate most hard shadows. If the hard light is still causing shadows, aim your lights away from your project onto white sheets of foamcore or matte board; the reflected light will be much softer and more diffused. Outdoors, white boards can be used to reflect the sunlight up and onto your project in the same way.
- Aluminum-hooded shop lights are inexpensive, good light sources (found at hardware/home improvement centers). They come with handy squeeze clamps for positioning them on the backs of chairs or the edges of tables. Use at least 250 watt bulbs, but be careful; the bulbs and aluminum hoods will get very hot!
- Remember: your photos are the only way we have to judge your project. All the time, effort and talent you put into your project will be wasted--in the eyes of the judges--by blurry, out-of-focus photos. Also, take care to frame your whole project in the viewfinder without cropping off a corner or the chimney top and try to avoid distracting items in the background.
Remember, we only have your photos to judge, so give it your best effort!
