This high speed mini hand crank drill will work on many materials including hard ones.

At only 4 1/2" long, it is very maneuverable and the three to one gear ratio makes it fast via the hand crank.

The brass chuck accepts drill bits from #55 to #80. It comes with a #55 bit and a hollow handle with a threaded cap for storage of the bits.

I found, however, that it will not drill through 3/8" plywood because the plastic gears slip once the bit is 3/16" into the wood and the chuck releases the bit when trying to remove the drill.
